It says that the file has to be smaller than 12kb. Right now its 13 some kb. -----------------------

It is smaller, as I've shown. Again, downloading the thumb or the pic? Its small enough, trust me. I wouldnt have been able to post with it if it wasnt.

In some cases, you need to send the avatar to them via email so they can get it as-is. -----------------------

I normally use neopaint to customize my avatars.
Its great to have you name and all that stuff on the image but Im just glad to have a great pic like this one of vincent from FF7 AC -----------------------

I use GIMP 2. Its free, and its performed extremely well for me (I would like a line tool, however). -----------------------
